The TCU women’s basketball team held off a late rally by the Houston Cougars to secure a 60-51 victory Sunday. After allowing Houston’s Porsche Landry two quick buckets to start the first half, TCU used a 16-0 run to take control of the game, and never relinquished the lead.

At halftime the TCU women’s basketball team leads Houston 34-25. Houston struck first with two quick layups by point guard Porsche Landry, but TCU responded with a 16-0 run to take a double-digit lead.

After dropping its first four contests of the season, Houston rides into Fort Worth as the winner of three straight games. The Horned Frogs have controlled the series between the two Texas schools lately, blowing out Houston last season by a score of 80-35. A victory for TCU would make five straight over the Cougars.

Senior forward Adrick McKinney scored 16 points Monday to lead TCU to a 75-47 victory over Centenary. McKinney was one of four Horned Frogs to score in double figures.

Here's a breakdown of the TCU women's basketball team as it enters its first season in the Big 12: #2 Whitney Williams – 5-7 Senior, Guard, Fort Worth, Texas  Williams began her career at Iowa State, where she played two seasons before transferring to TCU in 2010. Williams returns to Big 12 play this year as one of the top three-point shooters in the conference. Last season in the Mountain West, Williams ranked in the top 15 in assists, 3-point field percentage, and 3-point field goals made.

TCU has a new big man on campus.  At 6-foot-8 and 255 pounds, sophomore forward Devonta Abron is one of the biggest players on the men’s basketball roster this season.

The TCU men’s club hockey team will travel to Amarillo this weekend with one thing on their mind: revenge.  When TCU took on Texas Tech two weeks ago, the Red Raiders took both games of the series; outscoring the Horned Frogs 20-2 in the two games.

The weekend’s first matchup of Horned Frogs and Red Raiders came on the ice as the TCU men’s hockey squad laced up their skates against Texas Tech on Friday. The Texas Tech offense looked reminiscent of its football team, scoring early and often.

Despite a late comeback, the TCU men’s ice hockey team suffered their first loss of the season to rival SMU Friday night. TCU got off to a slow start, surrendering two goals to the Mustangs within three minutes of the opening faceoff. The Horned Frogs would answer back as the SMU goaltender allowed a shot by TCU forward Arman Azimi to trickle between his legs.
