The TCU women’s cross country team met expectations at its first Big 12 Championship meet, placing fifth overall. Head Coach Liz Wort said last week that she expected the team to place fifth if everyone ran the way they were expected to.

The TCU cross country team has been consistently improving each week in preparation for its first appearance in a Big 12 Championship meet Saturday in Austin. "Basically every meet has been improvement, improvement, improvement and that's not just me, that's everybody," senior runner Tricia Terry said.

The Horned Frogs were not ranked in the BCS poll this week, coming down from the 23rd spot. In the Big 12, Kansas State (3) and the University of Oklahoma (8) moved up one spot and the University of Texas (23) moved up two. Texas Tech (14) moved up three after its three point win at TCU. Iowa State, who lost to Oklahoma State, also moved off the poll.

Beta Upsilon Chi fraternity, which recently selected a new philanthropic cause, made "Family" the theme of their annual Island Party. “We chose Refugee Services of Texas because we wanted a more personal interaction with the philanthropy that we were going to choose,” Nathan Brasher, a senior film, television and digital media major and BYX president, said.

Kappa Lambda Delta Sorority Inc. celebrated its founders week by hosting five senses experiments to support autism awareness.  There was a table for each sense and experiments designed to overwhelm the senses. For example, putting headphones in on a high volume and trying to speak to the person next to you, or tasting sour, sweet and spicy in under a minute.

Here are some TCU Greek events on campus this week. Week-long events: This week is National Hazing Prevention Week (NHPW). Sorority and Fraternity Life, Student Development Services, the Alcohol and Drug Education Center and Order of Omega are hosting events every day to raise hazing prevention awareness, among other topics. There will be a table outside of Market Square each day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. where students can sign an anti-hazing banner and receive a free t-shirt.

Week-long events: Kappa Lambda Delta sorority will hold a week-long event called Kappa D’feating Autism to raise awareness on campus.  This week, Pi Kappa Phi will hold push week, a series of events that raise money and awareness for Push America, benefitting people with disabilities.
