TCU Police has increased the number of police and security guards patrolling in response to an assault incident, according to an email by Detective Vicki Lawson. According to a crime alert sent by TCU Police Sunday night, a female student was physically assaulted near the Tom Brown/Pete Wright parking lot early Sunday morning.

The driver involved in a single car crash on University Drive Friday evening was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to the police report. According to the police report, Catherine Ratelle, 21 of Dallas, told police she had been texting while driving, lost control of the car and struck a tree.

Creating a study abroad program may not be something many students consider, but sophomore engineering major Mathew Antony did just that. Antony will spend this spring semester in Manchester, England, continuing his studies at the University of Manchester in a program he created through the study abroad office and the engineering department.

The university registered 120 January transfer students this month, down from the record 173 students the university enrolled in January 2011. Dean of Admission Ray Brown said part of the reason for the lower rate was the increase in students in the fall 2011 freshman class.

The TCU mobile app is now open to a whole new world of users with the premiere of the Android platform. TCU mobile app offers users a variety of services including athletic schedules, official news and events, a directory, course information and a GPS-enabled interactive map of TCU's campus.

Fort Worth police said Tuesday that the death of a student last week was "an apparent suicide," according to an email. Mackenzie Logan Workman, a 19-year-old TCU student, was found dead at the Grand Marc Apartments at 4:11 p.m. on Sunday, according to a police report. The Fort Worth Medical Examiner still lists the cause and manner of death as pending.

Head football coach Gary Patterson said in a press conference Tuesday he was unsure if kicker Ross Evans would play on Saturday against the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Evans turned himself in on Nov. 21 on allegations of criminal trespassing of a habitation after he kicked in a door at a Denton apartment complex.
