Hall crews joined for the first time to celebrate homecoming through a block party for students. Residents of Sherley, Colby, Waits, Foster, Samuleson and Carter halls had their lawn filled with inflatable games as Crew members grilled hot dogs and burgers free of charge on Thursday evening.

The addition of the Lubbock parking lot, coupled with recent crimes in the area, will not lead to an increase in the number of police officers in the area, said Lt. Ramiro Abad, head of the TCU police patrol division. Instead, the current police patrol routes and the time devoted to parking lot stakeouts will be adjusted, Abad said.

TCU Police replaced two Froggie Five-0 golf carts this year. Froggie Five-0 supervisor Dustin Naegle said the decision to update the two carts came after they failed to meet performance standards.  Naegle said these carts will maintain the program’s reliability, and would help create a safer campus.

The newly-appointed interim dean of the College of Science and Engineering will try to maintain the department’s momentum built by his predecessor. Biology professor Phil Hartman was named as the temporary replacement for former Dean Demitris Kouris, who resigned earlier in April.

The TcUBA tuba and euphonium quartet group will travel to Linz, Austria to compete in an international music competition this summer. “For tuba and euphonium players, this international conference is the biggest thing,” Richard Murrow, a tuba and euphonium professor, said.
