Members of TCU's fan base have become a bit cynical as they've watched the Horned Frog baseball team struggle a bit down the stretch of the season. It's overtly apparent on fan blogs and from talking to students and alumni.

Head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle said he never doubted his teams attitude or effort, but a win over the Texas State Bobcats Tuesday evening may have taken some of the steam out of his doubts regarding No. 14 TCU's situational intelligence and execution going into TCU's weekend series.
The Horned Frogs (13-7) will face the University of Houston Cougars (11-11) in a three-game series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Twelve hits allowed the No. 14 Horned Frogs to reach their 13th win on the season as they overpowered the Texas State Bobcats (15-5) Tuesday evening at Lupton Stadium by a score of 3-1. Despite trailing Texas State for the majority of the game, head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle said he was very proud of TCU's effort, especially on offense.
"It's been a while since I've been as impressed with a group of hitters in this park under these conditions as I have with these guys," Schlossnagle said.

On a breezy Tuesday evening at Lupton Stadium, the No. 7 Horned Frogs beat the University of Texas-Arlington Mavericks 7-3 in an offensively dominated 21-hit ballgame.
A few key defensive plays allowed TCU (8-4) to seal the victory under the leadership of starting freshman pitcher Stefan Crichton and three Frogs relievers. Mavs starting pitcher Chase Weaver recorded the loss, giving up two runs on three hits in two innings of work. The Mavericks fell to 6-6 for the season.

A few key defensive plays allowed TCU to seal the victory under the leadership of starting freshman pitcher Stefan Crichton and three Frogs' relievers. Although the video evidence might disagree with the umpire's call, senior reliever Trent Appleby was credited with an out in the top of the fifth when he picked off UTA left fielder Ryan Walker at first.

Looking back on the college football season through the eyes of a TCU fan, I'm blown away by the power of character and integrity in the game. The way the players, teams and institutions carry themselves factors strongly into both public perception and results on the field. Those that point fingers, display cockiness and break rules eventually get what's coming their way.

One of my favorite landmarks in Fort Worth is the Railhead Smokehouse on Montgomery Street, where the employees wear T-shirts that read, "Life is too short to live in Dallas." Being a Fort Worth convert from Dallas by way of TCU, I especially love the motto, because I know exactly what they mean.

After cutting its BCS ranking deficit in half for the second week in a row, Boise State will almost inevitably jump TCU in the BCS rankings after playing No. 19 Nevada (10-1) next week, with TCU facing unranked New Mexico (1-10). While it's rather difficult to stomach as a Horned Frog fan, that's the bottom line of the situation.

College students have been among the leaders in alcohol consumption for decades, but a new drinking "strategy" that young adults are employing has physicians, college administrators and parents quite concerned. Drunkorexia is the name that's been given to the practice of eating less food to save room for calories from alcohol consumption.

The bulk of incumbent Texas Governor Rick Perry's campaign for re-election has been focused around the strength of the Texas economy, and I couldn't agree with him more that relatively low taxes and limited government involvement have made Texas an attractive place for big businesses to operate. However I'd say Perry has had about as much to do with Texas' economic success as the University of Texas Longhorns' Offensive Coordinator Greg Davis did with the success of former Texas quarterback Vince Young 8212; they both got out of the way and let things take care of themselves.
