With the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the ninth, No. 10 TCU was unable to come up with a win against No. 22 Ole Miss Friday night. The Horned Frogs lost 7-4 against the Rebels. Head coach Jim Schlossnagle said he was pleased with the way the team competed against Ole Miss.

It’s that time of year again. New team, new season. The No. 10 ranked TCU baseball team opens the 2012 season with a home series against No. 22 Ole Miss tonight. Head coach Jim Schlossnagle said Ole Miss was one of the best programs in the Southeastern Conference. He said he expected them to be competitive and have hard-throwing pitching.

The TCU men’s tennis team returned home to host a two-game series this weekend. The No. 44 Frogs will face Texas Tech Saturday and Santa Clara Sunday. The Horned Frogs (2-3) will enter the match with a 4-3 win against No. 47 Alabama Sunday.

The TCU rifle team will finish its last road trip of the regular season against the University of Texas at El Paso this Saturday. TCU remains the only undefeated team in the country after beating Air Force 4695-4618. The Horned Frogs have won 28 straight regular season matches.

The ninth annual First Pitch Banquet was a night not only dedicated to presenting the 2012 baseball team but also to honoring former players that had impacted the TCU baseball program.

The TCU rifle team will begin its two week road trip at No. 14 Air Force on Saturday. The Horned Frogs are 8-0, looking for their 28th straight regular season win. TCU is the only undefeated NCAA team after beating No. 3 West Virginia 4,701-4,669. It was the third time TCU surpassed the 4,700 mark this season.

The TCU women’s basketball team will host Mountain West stand out San Diego State Saturday at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum as it attempts to even out its conference record. TCU’s three-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday night with a 64-54 loss to Wyoming. The Horned Frogs are now 11-11 overall and 4-3 in the Mountain West Conference.

Country music artist and TCU alumnus JT Hodges was one of eight semifinalists nominated for the Academy of Country Music’s New Artist of the Year. The Fort Worth native returned home to share his recent recognition and pick the guitar with TCU football head coach Gary Patterson.

Five members of the men’s golf team will travel to Kona, Hawaii, Sunday to compete in the Amer Ari Invitational. Head coach Bill Montigel said he handpicked these five men to participate in the tournament based on how they played.
