The Horned Frogs’ defense still has room for improvement even after the win against the Air Force on Sept. 9, head football coach Gary Patterson said.
The TCU defense came back strong after the loss against Baylor, only allowing the Air Force to score 19 points in a Frog win.
“We tackled a little bit better, but we got a long way to go,” Patterson said.

This Friday, the Rose Bowl Champion Frogs start their season in Waco, with a new quarterback and a plethora of new starters. The keyword to this season is new, but plenty of former support is back for the Horned Frogs, and this should include the fans.

Sophomore pitcher Matt Purke started playing baseball when he was six years old, and for the past 14 years he said he hasn't put the ball down.
"I was like every little kid and wanted to play all the time," Purke said. "As I grew up I played multiple sports but as I got into high school I saw that [baseball] was more my thing."

Potential state budget cuts in public education have resulted in cutbacks in hiring of teachers upon graduation, Dale Young, director of teacher placement in the College of Education, said.
Gov. Rick Perry proposed $10 billion in cuts to the public education system, according to an Associated Press article on March 14. More than a thousand teachers, students and school officials protested the proposed cuts last week in Austin on the Capitol steps.

Coming off its first College World Series appearance, the horned frog baseball team ranks number one in the preseason college baseball poll.
This season the Frogs will return seven of nine starters this season. Sophomore Matt Purke, junior Kyle Winkler and senior Steven Maxwell return to the plate this season, each have received preseason accolades.
Baseball head coach Jim Schlossnagle said he was proud of the way the Frogs opened up the season, even with a loss in game three of the series.

Local campus restaurants prepared for the extra guests Super Bowl XLV was expected to bring to businesses in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, until the Metroplex was frosted with snow and ice.
The Berry Street Fuzzy's location started seeing an increase in guests the weekend before the Super Bowl, but after the ice, business was not anywhere near what it was expected to be.
"It was a normal week," Fuzzy's General Manager Bo Martino said. "I was anticipating abnormal...I'm a little disappointed we didn't get more of that (Super Bowl) crowd."

Two weeks after the Horned Frogs defeated Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, the excitement had not slowed down as around 6,000 TCU fans continued celebrating at the Rose Bowl Celebration at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on Monday.
In addition to the fans and football team, Chancellor Victor Boschini, Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief and members of the Rose Bowl management committee attended the celebration to honor the undefeated Horned Frogs.

Third ranked TCU defeated No. 4 Wisconsin 21-19, the closest game the Frogs had all season, in Pasadena at the 97thRose Bowl Game.
