After a slow start in Sunday's showdown against No. 12 Cal State-Fullerton, the No. 4 Horned Frogs lost their first series of the season, 2-1, at Lupton Stadium.
The Frogs headed into Sunday's game 1-1 on the series against the Titans after a 4-1 win on Friday and a disappointing 8-4 loss Saturday.
Sophomore Matt Purke was scheduled to pitch Sunday's game, but was replaced by freshman pitcher Andrew Mitchell. Purke suffered from a blister, and islikely expected to return to the mound next weekend, Schlossnagle said.

After back-to-back losses against No. 7 Cal State Fullerton, the No. 8 Horned Frogs baseball team dropped its first series of the season, 2-1. It was the Frogs' first regular-season weekend series loss in 20 series 8212; a streak which began March 27-29, 2009 against Mountain West Conference rival San Diego State.
"The whole season is about how you handle adversity, I told the guys that you can either fold or rise up and make it part of our story," head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle said.

Horned Frog spirit. We've all got it. But at the games and across campus, spirit is led by the Cheerleaders a dedicated group of students that spend a lot of time perfecting techniques and maintaining the fitness required for the job.
The squad continues to gain popularity on campus and nationwide and has survived its share of controversy over the years.

In 2008, the Horned Frogs left Salt Lake City with their heads hung low after a 13-10 loss that snapped their winning streak and a season full of promise. But after an unpredictable 47-7 blowout over the University of Utah Saturday, the 10-0 Horned Frogs remain at No. 3 in the BCS polls this week and advanced to No. 3 in the AP and USA Today polls. Now a BCS bowl game appearance is on the horizon.
Kevin Ash, chief administrative officer of the Rose Bowl game, said that TCU's performance against Utah sent a message in the BCS.

It was evident in the DFW airport as purple clad fans flocked to their gates and cheers of "Rah, Rah TCU!" echoed down the terminal, that this wasn't an average football game.
On Saturday, the TCU No. 3 TCU Horned Frogs will take on the No. 5 University of Utah Utes in a game that could make, or break, the season for both. The Mountain West Conference foes are both undefeated on the season and are looking to move their way up the BCS ranking with a win this weekend. TCU is 9-0 and Utah is 8-0.

In front of a blacked out crowd of 46,522, the second-largest crowd in Utah history, the No. 3 Horned Frogs defeated the No. 5 University of Utah Utes 47-7, breaking the Utes 21-game home-win streak.
Head Football Coach Gary Patterson said that the team made a statement today in their performance against the Utes and that it was such a large margin win that no coach could have predicted it.

In a game that could change the face of college football, the No. 3 Horned Frogs did anything but fold under the pressure. Not only did the Frogs shutout the No. 5 ranked University of Utah Utes in the first half, but also recorded a season high 237 offensive yards in the first quarter alone.

While fall break may have kept the student fans out of the stands, it didn't hamper the the No. 5 TCU Horned Frogs who advanced to 6-0 on the season with a 45-0 victory over the University of Wyoming Cowboys Saturday at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
Saturday's victory marks back-to-back shutouts for the Horned Frogs for the first time since 1955.
