WEST, Texas – Reagan Uptmore is 17 years old and has worked in the big barn behind the West auction building south of town for as long as he can remember. That’s where he was Wednesday evening when he heard the boom. It had been cloudy most of the day, so Uptmore thought it was a storm. Then he realized it wasn’t raining.

Casey Pachall returned to school Monday a little more than three months after being arrested on DWI charges. The senior quarterback, who spent time in a substance abuse rehab facility and a subsequent outpatient program, is back. Good for him. Good for TCU. Good for college football. And none of the above has anything to do with winning football games.

You got your stadium and your record-breaking win and your ticket to the Big 12 – sure, that pretty much went as planned.

If there was anything Julien Brun did more of last year - as in more than any TCU golfer ever - it was win. He took three tournaments, a school record, including his first college event last October. But it’s hard to forget the rest of the Frenchman’s freshman year, which combined with the wins made it the greatest individual season in program history.

State Sen. Wendy Davis and Rep. Mark Shelton will participate in an open State Senate District 10 debate 7 p.m. Thursday inside the Kelly Alumni Center Ballroom. Davis, the Democratic incumbent, is running for her second term in office. Shelton, the Republican candidate, represents District 97 in the Texas House of Representatives.

Running back Matthew Tucker will be a gametime decision Saturday against Iowa State, TCU head coach Gary Patterson said Tuesday at his weekly press conference. Tucker, a senior, suffered an ankle injury last Saturday against SMU.

The TCU football team beat SMU 24-16 Saturday night at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas. Quarterback Casey Pachall threw for two touchdowns, and the TCU defense had five interceptions as the Horned Frogs improved to 4-0.  Here are some quick highlights from the game:

TCU quarterback Casey Pachall threw two touchdowns, and running back Matthew Tucker powered in for a four-yard score late in the second quarter as the Horned Frogs got out to a 21-10 lead Saturday night over SMU at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas.
