The TCU women’s golf team added sophomore transfer Kortnie Maxoutopoulis to the team. A transfer from Rutgers, Maxoutopoulis will be eligible to play for the Frogs in the spring. She was an All-Big East Conference selection as a freshman last season. She had seven top-10 finishes and two tournament championships.

TCU has 18 All-Big 12 honorees headed to Tempe, Ariz., including the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Devonte Fields. Fields earned multiple player of the year honors and helped The Frog defense holdvopponents to 23.1 points per game, good for second in the Big 12 behind Kansas State.

The Michigan State Spartans (6-6) bring the nation’s third-best running back to Tempe, Ariz. The Spartans also have the nation’s No. 4 ranked defense holding teams to 273.25 yards per game and a top 25 punter.

The TCU baseball team will start the 2013 season ranked in the preseason for the seventh time in 10 years at No. 15 in the Collegiate Baseball poll.

TCU linebacker Kenny Cain and offensive guard Blaize Foltz will play in collegiate all-star games next month. Cain was selected to play in the Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game in Tucson, Ariz., on Jan. 11 while Foltz will appear in the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Jan 19.

Cornerback Jason Verrett was named a third-team All-American and defensive end Devonte Fields earned fourth-team honors from the Phil Steele Publications. Verrett has made four All-American teams this season and was a first-team All-Big 12 selection and the San Antonio Express-News Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.

Eight TCU freshmen were named Freshman All-Americans by CollegeFootballNews.com. Defensive end Devonte Fields, the National Defensive Freshman of the Year and the Associated Press Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, made the first team while safety Chris Hackett and defensive tackle Davion Pierson were placed on the second team.

TCU and Michigan State will battle with top-ranked defenses when they face off in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. The Spartans finished the regular season No. 1 in the Big Ten and No. 4 nationally in total defense, giving up 273.25 yards per game. The Frogs held opponents to 332 yards per game, which ranked No. 18 nationally and No. 1 in the Big 12.
