Baseball team shuts out Air Force 5-0, Mitchell fans 13
Andrew Mitchell struck out 13 batters and threw seven scoreless innings, while Kevin Cron drove in two runs, as the TCU baseball team beat Air Force 5-0 Friday night at Lupton Stadium.
Mitchell (4-2) only gave up three hits to the Falcons and walked just one batter as the Horned Frogs won their fourth in a row, improving to 18-13 on the year and 7-3 in Mountain West play.
The win was Mitchell's second straight. The sophomore threw 6.2 scoreless innings and struck out 10 against UNC-Wilmington April 5.
Cron singled up the middle in the first inning to drive in Jerrick Suiter then doubled to left field in the third inning to score Josh Elander.
Cron hit his first career home run against UT-Arlington on Wednesday.
The Frogs and Falcons (8-23, 3-7) will be back in action Saturday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. Freshman Preston Morrison is scheduled to get the start on the mound for TCU.

TCU smart phone thief sentenced to seven months in state jail
A man is serving a seven-month jail sentence after pleading guilty to a string of smart phone thefts in the TCU Rec Center. Tyriq Butler, 22, pled guilty to a theft of property under $1,500 and two prior convictions charge, which is a third degree felony. Butler was arrested in March on suspicion of stealing smart phones from the TCU Rec Center’s weight room.

Former TCU football player suspected of laptop theft
Former TCU cornerback David Jenkins, who was dismissed from the university Friday following his arrest on warrants for suspicion of burglary, stole two laptops from residence halls in May, according to TCU Police reports. Jenkins, an LSU transfer, is a suspect in the theft of two laptops from rooms in Moncrief Residence Hall on May 28 and May 30.
