Market Square employee dies
Mrs. Betty Jones, a foodservice team member for Sodexo, died on July 7.
Mrs. Jones, 77, was remembered at a memorial service that was held at the Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home in Burleson.
Known as “Mrs. Betty” at TCU, she worked at the university for 22 years. She had a blood clot in her lungs and went into Intensive Care in early July, said Erica Williams, resident dining supervisor of Market Square.
“She was like my grandmother away from home,” Williams said at Mrs. Jones’ memorial service. “We will miss her. She made our day at work.”
Mrs. Betty worked as a cashier at Deco Deli and became a relief cashier when once Market Square was built.
Mrs. Betty was going to have hip surgery over the summer and told Williams she would “be back with a new hip and a new walk.”
Market Square is planning on placing Mrs. Betty’s picture at both registers to let students know of her death, Williams said.
“She loved her students and they loved Mrs. Betty,” Williams said.
