Former Wyoming WR continues trend, becomes a Frog

After spending his freshman season at the University of Wyoming, wide receiver Josh Doctson transferred to TCU, Director of Athletics Media Relations Mark Cohen said.

By transferring, Doctson became another member of his family to be a Horned Frog.

Doctson’s brother Jeremiah, a sophomore astronomy and physics major, also attends TCU. Doctson’s mother, Tracy Syler-Jones, is the vice-chancellor for marketing and communication at TCU.

“He’s had some wonderful times so far during his freshman year and as a family, we are all grateful for all those experiences,” Syler-Jones said. “He decided to transfer because one of our family members is ill, and Josh wanted to live closer to this relative during this time.”

Doctson caught 35 passes for 393 yards and a team-leading five touchdowns for Wyoming last season. He caught three passes for 43 yards and caught his first-career touchdown pass against TCU on Nov. 5, 2011.

Doctson attended Legacy High School in Mansfield, Texas, and graduated in 2011.

According to Rivals.com, Doctson was a three-star recruit coming out of high school. He stands six feet four inches tall and weighs 185 pounds. 

With senior Jonathan Jones graduating, Doctson would be the tallest wide receiver on the TCU roster. 

Cohen said Doctson will not be eligible to play until the 2013 season because of NCAA transfer rules.
