The NCAA granted sophomore forward Devonta Abron a transfer eligibility waiver allowing him to compete for TCU this fall. Abron will not sit out the year required for undergraduate transfers.
The 6-foot-8 Dallas, Texas native appeared in all 32 games for Arkansas last season. As a true freshman, Abron started 22 games for a Razorbacks squad that went 18-14. He averaged 5.7 points per game and led the team in rebounding with 4.2 boards per contest.
“I am pleased we were able to work with the NCAA to get a resolution in regards to Devonta’s status,” head coach Trent Johnson said in a statement on gofrogs.com. “We are excited that he will be on the floor for us in our first season as a member of the Big 12 Conference.”
Abron, who attended Seagoville High School, left Arkansas to be closer to his family.
