Ranking the Big XII cities
Two years of football in the Big XII have come and gone, and while the Frogs haven’t had the same success as in recent memory, one thing is for sure: we’ve learned that each of the ten Big XII schools is located in a city with a distinct culture and atmosphere.
From West Virginia to west Texas, Austin to Ames, each city has its high and low points, and after tallying the votes, here is what TCU students thought were the best and worst:
TCU dominates in paint, romps Abilene Christian
Fueled by a dominant performance down low, the TCU women’s basketball team (7-3) remained undefeated at home Wednesday night with a 82-55 victory over Abilene Christian (7-4).
Senior center Latricia Lovings and freshman center Klara Bradshaw fueled a performance down low that resulted in the Frogs outscoring ACU 38-12 in the paint. Bradshaw made three lay-ups in a row early to help the Frogs to maintain a one point lead despite three three-pointers in the opening stretch by ACU guard Whitney West.
Then, TCU went on a 15-3 run and never looked back.
Frogs top UTPA despite sloppy play
Despite sloppy play and bad shooting plaguing them for most of the afternoon, the TCU men’s basketball team found a way to win, beating Texas-Pan American 57-48.
“A win is a win,” TCU head coach Trent Johnson said. “Obviously, they were better than we were for 35 minutes.”
Junior guard Kyan Anderson led the Frogs with 16 points and four assists in the win.
“He played very well,” Johnson said.
