The TCU women’s soccer team will face off against Air Force today. The Frogs have struggled this year, going 6-7-1 so far.
They are 0-2 against Mountain West Conference competition this season and are coming off a tough 2-1 loss to Texas Tech at home.
Air Force has been playing well lately. The Falcons are unbeaten in their past five matches and have posted four straight shutouts. Goalkeeper Kelly Stambaugh had three consecutive shutouts, including Air Force’s 1-0 defeat of Boise State last week. It was the Falcons’ first road win since 2002.
Senior Jordan Calhoun will need to play well in order for TCU to succeed. She missed some time early this season, but since her return, she has had five goals and TCU has a 4-0-1 record when she scored. Calhoun is TCU’s all-time leading goal scorer with 34 goals in her career.
This week, TopDrawerSoccer.com named Calhoun the second-best player in the Mountain West.
The Air Force defense may give TCU some problems. The Falcons have held opponents scoreless in 517 minutes. Air Force has a 0.95 goals-against average, which is its second-lowest in the Division I era.
TCU will finish its home stand against Wyoming on Sunday before closing its season on the road at Boise State and New Mexico.
