Rifle team travels to No. 14 Air Force

The TCU rifle team will begin its two week road trip at No. 14 Air Force on Saturday.
The Horned Frogs are 8-0, looking for their 28th straight regular season win.
TCU is the only undefeated NCAA team after beating No. 3 West Virginia 4,701-4,669. It was the third time TCU surpassed the 4,700 mark this season.
In smallbore, junior Sarah Scherer fired a 589 and junior Sarah Beard fired 586. TCU and West Virginia finished with only a 10-point difference in air rifle, 2,368-2,358. For the eighth straight match, Scherer had the top score with a 595. Beard ended just behind with a season-high 594.
Air Force is coming off a 4,628-4,627 win against No. 7 Ole Miss in a meet that included The Citadel and North Carolina State.
It was the first win for the Falcons against a top-ranked school. The Falcons earned a season-high score, and they are now 7-7 this season.
Freshman Meredith Carpentier was the top shooter in air rifle with a 590, while senior Pat Everson won the smallbore with a 578.
Air Force will host TCU all day Saturday at the Cadet Gymnasium Rifle Range.
