Sometimes, you just can’t squeeze wine from a turnip. At least, that’s what TCU baseball head coach Jim Schlossnagle said after his team fell to the Cal State Fullerton Titans, 6-2. Schlossnagle said his players might be trying too hard to find a win.

The past and the present of Horned Frog baseball met on Feb. 3 at The Worthington Renaissance Fort Worth Hotel in downtown Fort Worth for the Tenth Annual First Pitch Banquet. This year’s event saw the largest crowd yet with about 450 guests, Meredith Montgomery, the director of operations for TCU baseball, said.

Here are some players to watch for this season: Infield: Paul Hendrix is a player who can play multiple positions. Head coach Jim Schlossnagle said returner Keaton Jones is close to earning his spot as starting shortstop, but Hendrix would be available to back up Jones and play in other positions if he hits well.

Just as baseball players are gearing up for TCU's debut season in the Big 12, Lupton Stadium is getting prepared with an array of new construction projects. Work at the baseball facility includes wind guards, new fences and fence padding, expanded warning tracks and a newly excavated hill on the right-field side of the stadium.
