Midseason grades: Offense Quarterback
Trevone Boykin, redshirt freshman
After starting the season as the backup quarterback, moving to running back and assuming the starting quarterback role in a matter of days, Trevone Boykin found his footing against Baylor. He threw for 261 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for 56 yards. The Mesquite native threw three interceptions in his first start against Iowa State, but he spent the week before the game taking snaps at running back and had one full practice at quarterback. Boykin shook off that performance when he took the field against Baylor.
