Former frog Gerald Warfield was honored at the 28th Annual L. Ron Hubbard Achievement awards at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles, CA. Warfield was one of 12 writers at the event to win the Writers of the Future Contest for his story “The Poly Islands”.

Kevin Cron had three hits and Preston Morrison earned his seventh win of the season, as the TCU baseball team beat New Mexico 5-3 Saturday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. The game, which started Friday night but was postponed due to bad weather, was the first of a doubleheader between the Horned Frogs and Lobos. Game 2 is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Newly-hired Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby praised TCU’s athletics program and said the school will be a great addition to the league this fall. Bowlsby was formally introduced as the conference’s commissioner Friday at the league’s offices in Irving.
