Music in the 109 this week, Sept. 12-17

Get ready for a weekend of exciting football and great music. Gonzo City, War Party, and Tripp Mathis will play at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at The Cellar. War Party is a hip-hop band from California, whose album won the 2001 Canadian Aboriginal Music Award for Best Rap or Hip-Hop Album.

Looking for a good country performance, and a nice venue? Two Door Ford will play at 10:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Rock Bottom. Put on your cowboy boots, and join your fellow 109ers for a two-stepping night.

Alien Brew, Skeleton Coast, and Sally Majestic will play at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at The Moon. Skeleton Coast is a local experimental, new wave band who was nominated for “Best New Band” in the 2011 FW Weekly Music Awards.

After the TCU vs. University of Lousianna-Monroe game, Outback Special will play at 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at The Moon. Throw on your purple and join this band of TCU students. Outback Special is a rock band.

The Moon bar will be moving to Camp Bowie Boulevard in early November. According to the FW Weekly, the owner, Chris Maunder, is looking for a “bigger box.” We are sad to see The Moon leaving the 109, but are excited to see what will open in its place.

For more information on The Moon’s relocation check out the Fort Worth Weekly article by Anthony Mariani.
