Music in the 109 this week, Oct. 16-22

Take a break and come see what great music the 109 has to offer this week. From your favorite classic rock to the newest Texas country, the 109 has it all.

Emory Quinn and Wheeler Brothers will play at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Aardvark. Next door, The Wandas and The Moonshiners will play at 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at The Moon. The Wandas is a rock band who was named the Best Live Act of 2010 by Time Out, a popular Boston Magazine. Later that year, they were nominated as the Best Pop Act of 2010 in the Boston Music Awards.

Apache 5, The Red 100’s and The Blank Generation will play at 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at The Moon. Lead singer of The Blank Generation, Riley Knight, says that they enjoy playing at The Moon because “it’s an intimate place. If you are inside, you can’t help but feeling connected to the band playing. It’s a cool tradeoff.” The Blank Generation’s drummer, Austin Adams, said the band is “a band centered on playing fun music while still getting a message across.” The Blank Generation is influenced by old Kings of Leon songs, The Black Keys, and Band of Skulls. They will be showing off a few of their new originals this Friday.

It’s a day of college football! TCU vs. New Mexico after party with JR Satery and Outback Special at 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at The Moon. Another after party is down the street with Josh Mathers at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Rock Bottom.
