Ben Kirbo: TCU's pole vault prodigy is springing new heights

TCU sophomore pole vaulter Ben Kirbo has already set new program records, but he says he is far from done.

Music in the 109 this week, Oct. 23-29

Halloween is around the corner, and the trick-or-treaters are as eager as ever. Celebrate this spooky time of the year at various venues in the 109. The Moon is moving a few miles away, so people will be rocking harder than ever. Big Mike’s Box of Rock will play their weekly show at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 at The Moon.

Enjoy a Potbelly sandwich while listening to Andrew Sullivan play from 12 p.m.- 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Potbelly. Sullivan is a TCU alum whose voice and lyrics bring locals back from week to week.

Manderly St. will play Thursday, Oct. 27, at the Aardvark. Manderly St. is a Texas country/ alternative band that plays 90’s covers and originals. Members of Manderly St. are TCU students.

Nick Addair will play at the TCU vs. BYU after party Friday, Oct. 28, at the Aardvark. Secret Ghost Champion, My Wooden Leg, Igneous Grimm, and Skeleton Coast will play at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at The Moon. Secret Ghost will be releasing their new CD. Skeleton Coast was recently nominated for “Best New Band” in the 2011 FW Weekly Music Awards.

Phantom Castle, The Pons, El Centro, and Michaelmatician will play at 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Aardvark. Next door, House Harkonnen, Shaolin Death Squad, The Phuss, and Trebuchet will play at the Halloween party 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at The Moon. Whiskey Bent will play Saturday, Oct. 29 at Rock Bottom.

All events at The Moon, The Aardvark, and Rock Bottom are 18 and up.
