Five organizations in the 109 have received part of the more than $6.7 million donated to local charities by the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial this year.
The annual Colonial Country Club Charities Holiday Breakfast was held Tuesday to end the year and distribute the final donations to more than 100 organizations.
The tournament’s successful fundraising for dozens of local charities places it in the top five on the PGA Tour for 2011, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Crowne Plaza Invitational.
The tournament has generated cash and services for more than 130 different organizations in the last two decades totaling over $46 million, according to the statement.
Next year, the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial will be held May 21 through May 27.
Organizations in the 109 that received donations include Breakthrough at Fort Worth Country Day, Clayton YES!, KinderFrogs School at TCU, the TCU Roland Harper Memorial Scholarship and the Youth Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth.
