UCC Fall Kickoff to bring 109ers together before school begins

The University Christian Church’s kickoff event will give families a chance to spend time together the night before most local schools go into session.

The free event is on Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is open to the public, said Carol Fewell, director of communications. More than 300 people are expected to attend this outdoor event.

Fewell said she hoped more people who don’t regularly attend UCC’s church service will come. The church is publicizing it with a “free concert” sign outside of the building.

Rob Baird, a 2009 TCU graduate, will perform at 6:30 p.m. as a part of his “I Swear It’s The Truth” Tour. Baird said one of his band members usually plays at UCC on Sundays when he can.

Gepetto’s Pizza Truck, McAllister’s Deli and LuLu’s Icebox are going to be a few food options during the event, Fewell said.

There will also be a few therapy dogs to play with the children and free health screenings, Fewell said. The event will have activities for children, a photo booth and door prizes that all visitors can register for.
