Panthers Playoff Hopes Alive

Panthers Boys Basketball can still go to the playoffs despite loss Tuesday.
Despite the loss to Arlington High School on Tuesday night, the Paschal Boys Basketball team still has a chance to make playoffs.

The Panthers lost 58-47 Tuesday night. Arlington jumped ahead quickly with eight 3-pointers in the first half. Going into halftime, the Panthers were only down by four.

Head coach Ed King said they, “fought hard and defended,” despite the lack of offense. The boys shot only 24 percent in the second half. He also said one of the contributing factors to the lack of offense was that two of their big players, “could not get it going,” in the second half.

The Panther’s leading scorer was Damon Smith, with 16.

A win would have solidified their playoff birth with one more game this season, but with a Weatherford win against Arlington Lamar tonight at 7:30 p.m., the Panthers can still go.

Coach King said that despite this obstacle, the team has achieved their goal this year. He said their main goal was to earn respect from the other teams in their district, which he said they accomplished.

“We made a good run,” said Coach King, “they overachieved.”

The last game of the season will be at Arlington Lamar High School on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 p.m.
