Trucks park side-by-side at a spot along the Trinity Trails to offer runners more than a water break.
Named for its location on the Trinity River, the newly opened Clearfork Food Park is Fort Worth’s third food park and the first with a full bar.
Owner and operator of the Gastro Bomber truck Robert Robbins said the main purpose of a food park is to have multiple trucks at the same place.
“Instead of trying to go to one location, people can come here and try something small from each truck,” Robbins said. “It helps spread the word fast.”
Clearfork Food Park has room for up to nine trucks, he said.
Senior entrepreneurial management major Macy Pulliam said aside from the riverside location of Clearfork Food Park, having a variety of edible options is what keeps her coming back.
“I love coming to try something different from each truck,” Pulliam said. “It’s the only place I know where you can get Cajun, cupcakes and cocktails.”
Owner and operator of the Taste of Louisiana truck Matt Carter said opening a food truck is cheaper than a traditional restaurant. Mobile business makes it possible for new trucks to get their name out while making money, he said.
“If you have a quality product and do the marketing correctly you can get into a brick-and-mortar situation relatively fast,” Carter said.
Being right on the Trinity River, Pulliam said she wondered how the park managed to keep trash from blowing into the river.
Robbins said silt fencing was put up around the park during construction to prevent waste reaching the Trinity River. Truck venders regularly pick up trash to keep the park clean, he said.
