Anne Lamott to speak at Arborlawn UMC tonight

Stories will be told and heard at Arborlawn United Methodist Church as part of their new Arborlawn Vineyard Series that kicks off Tuesday.

The event will feature author Anne Lamott as she shares her personal journey.

Senior Minister at Arborlawn UMC, Rev. Ben Disney, said the thought behind the Vineyard Series was to invite people to come and have “meaningful dialogue and conversation that affect us all.”

Rev. Disney said that Arborlawn is also inviting “a wide variety of people who have experienced different spiritual journeys” to come speak.

According to Arborlawn’s website, “The Arborlawn Vineyard Series will be a place of connection between the community, church, and everyday life.”

The series starts Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. A book signing and reception at 7:30 p.m. in the Lower Commons will immediately follow the conversation.

Anne Lamott has written several New York Times bestsellers, such as “Grace (Eventually),” “Plan B,” “Traveling Mercies,” and “Operating Instructions.” Her most recent book, “Help, Thanks, Wow: The Three Essential Prayers” was published last November.

According to Arborlawn’s website, books will be available for purchase, or participants are welcome to bring their own copies for Anne Lamott to sign. The event is free and anyone is invited to attend. Free childcare is also available this evening by contacting Neil Cantwell at 817-731-0701.
