A power outage that disrupted businesses near Hulen Street and Bellaire Drive shortly before noon today was followed by a crash.
The crash, involving several vehicles, occurred near the intersection shortly after noon and involved an overturned vehicle, witnesses say. At this time, it is unknown if there were any injuries.
“We don’t know why the power went out,” Texaco employee Jeff Permann said. “It shut off around 11:45.”
Permann said the crash happened about 12:15 p.m.
“I heard it, and I came out,” he said.
Another Texaco employee, Leo Provencal, said a vehicle landed on its side.
“There was lots of traffic with the light being out,” he said. “It was a mess.”
Fort Worth Police Sgt. Kelly Peel said he was unaware of the accident. Peel later wrote in an email that he is only informed of an accident if life threatening injuries are involved.
"Accident reports can take several days," he wrote.
Patrick Presley, who works at Red, Hot and Blue near the intersection, said the electrical issue affected nearby apartment complexes and business.
“This whole shopping strip was out,” he said. “We had three customers total. After they left, we locked up all the doors until it came back on. About 1:30 it came back on.”
