Slideshow: Group marches in Fort Worth to legalize marijuana in Texas

If this weekend’s demonstrators have their way, the 109 could become a mellower place.

Protesters filled the streets Saturday in downtown Fort Worth as they rallied for the legalization of marijuana.

The 2014 Global Marijuana March began at 4:20 p.m. on May 3.

The group chanted “We smoke pot” and “Legalize” while marching. Marijuana was smoked enroute, as participants offered to share their weed with strangers in the march.

Some carried signs, some carried children and others were pushed along in wheelchairs as the group made their way to the courthouse steps and covered its lawn.

“I’d rather die naturally than with chemicals,” one marcher yelled.

Although some police were nearby, they appeared to be concerned mainly with the safety of the pedestrians.
