Colonial provides golf fans a range of parking options

Parking at the Colonial can be free or cost anywhere from $10 to $40 to the price of a TollTag or a Cadillac.

Fans wait in awed silence at the Colonial's Crowne Plaza Invitational as a pro golfer concentrates on a swing, but to experience it, they need a place to park.

Shuttle parking to and from the event is available at TCU’s Amon Carter Stadium for $10 per day, but those spaces fill up fast. Shuttle services are also provided at Farrington Field off University Drive at Lancaster. Both shuttles start at 6 a.m. and run through Sunday, according to the event's website.

“I wished I could’ve parked at TCU,” said Arlington resident Joe Thomas. “But it was already filled up, so I drove over to Farrington Field. Tomorrow, I’ll be here earlier.”

Thomas said TCU’s lot was full at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Cadillac owners receive complimentary shuttle services, in a Cadillac, at the Cadillac lot located on the north side of Amon Carter Stadium. According to the event’s website, shuttles from the lot also begin at 6 a.m. The lot is accessible from North Bellaire Drive, and those who do not own a Cadillac are also welcome to park there for $40 per day.

Thomas was invited to park in the Cadillac lot, he said, but told them he had a Ford.

Friday only, those with a TollTag park free at Farrington Field courtesy of the North Texas Tollway Authority. Parking at Farrington Field is also free after 5 p.m. through Saturday for the Frost Park Concert Series, said David Walker, media coordinator for the event.

In addition, bicycle parking will be available at no charge starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at Frost Park.

A shuttle attendant, who asked that his name not be revealed, said weekends beginning around 9 a.m. are the busiest time during the event.

“It varies each year, because it depends on who is playing,” he said. “You have the bigger names they will tee off later in the day. They push the crowd back.”
