The 109’s top picks for weekend entertainment

The 109 has a new entertainment editor, Tamadhar “Tooti” Almoayyad, and her top pick for entertainment this week is the TCU vs. Texas Tech football game.

The game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at Amon G. Carter Stadium, and many pregame activities will be offered prior to the game.

Visitors can enjoy Frog Alley, which opens three hours before kick-off. The Alley will be open from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. this week, said Rory Rutledge, TCU assistant director of marketing athletics. And each week, different TCU team members sign autographs for fans in Frog Alley.

“Frog Alley will have many family entertainment activities that include face painting and spray painting balloons and buttons,” he said.

The big purple truck will sell food, and adults can purchase wine and beer at the Party Zone plus watch games around the country big screen-style.

Frog Walk will start 45 minutes after Frog Alley is opened, which will be at 12:15 p.m., then again 45 minutes before kick-off at 1:45 p.m. The TCU band and show girls will also march, Rutledge said.

Tooti’s pick No. 2 for the week is Boo at the Zoo, a Halloween-themed event at the Fort Worth Zoo scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 24 through Oct. 26.

According to the Zoo's website, the event will include carnival games, craft stations and a pumpkin patch stroll. The pumpkin patch will display decorated pumpkins by community members as well as zoo staff.

The event will also feature live music from Casa Kids, School of Rock in Texas Town, and Razzmajazz Dixieland Jazz Band. For more information, visit http://www.fortworthzoo.org/plan-a-visit/calendar-of-events/boo-at-the-zoo/.
