Crawford Edwards, the patriarch of the Edwards Family, announced this week that a planned retail development will feature a luxury-brand store.
Neiman Marcus will be open at the completion of phase one of development of The Shops at Clearfork, scheduled for a grand opening in February 2017.
Lemuel Edwards founded the Edwards Ranch in 1848. The Edwards Family has owned the land ever since and have been developing parts of their property since 1958, Crawford Edwards said.
The development will be constructed by Simon and Casco Development Co. at the corner of the Clear Fork Trinity River and the Chisholm Trail Parkway. Approximately 500,000 square feet of retail space are planned for phase one with 90,000 solely dedicated to the Neiman Marcus store, according to a press release from The Shops at Clearfork.
“There are few things more Texan than Neiman Marcus and Fort Worth,” said Karen Katz, the president and CEO of Neiman Marcus Group. “We are confident it will define Neiman Marcus modernity for today’s customer.”
The remaining retail space will include about 100 other specialty stores, a luxury theater and a multitude of restaurants. Once the project is complete, 2,500 multi-family residences, two million square feet of office space and over one million square feet of retail will have been constructed.
The master plan will bring together 270 acres for a mixed-use, indoor and outdoor facility.
Edwards envisions what he called an “activity greenspace” that will incorporate the trails along the Trinity River with the convenience of high-end shopping and living.
Edwards said he wants the development to become his family’s “legacy project.”
“This is not a place that we plan on building and flipping,” he said. “It will be owned by our family for generations to come. It will be extremely well-done.”
