The 109’s first pick for entertainment this weekend is After Hours at the Kimbell.

The event, which shows another face of the museum through live music, appetizers and signature cocktails, is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Kimbell Art Museum.

A variety of jazz musicians perform at each event.

“This upcoming event is with Outer Circles,” said Barbara Smith, public relations coordinator for the museum.

Smith said about 350 people attend each event to see international pieces from places like Europe, Asia and Africa.

Second pick this weekend is the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band holiday concert scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at McDavid Studio in downtown Fort Worth.

The annual jazz concert will last about 90 minutes, said Malcolm Mayhew, media and public relations manager at Bass Performance Hall.

“We host at least three UNT shows a year,” he said.

Pick No. 3 this weekend is the “Nutcracker” which will run Dec. 13 through Dec. 27 at the Texas Ballet Theater.

The one-hour 48-minute ballet is a traditional holiday performance which tells the story of a girl who discovers magic.

Ticket prices vary from $20 to $110 depending on the seating area.
