Hunter Hayes is trending at TCU as students react to the news about the young country star headlining this year’s Fall Concert.

Hayes is scheduled to perform at the Campus Commons on October 16.

Minutes after a campus-wide email from Student Body President Maddie Reddick announced the headliner, many students tweeted their reactions.

The line-up for past fall concerts includes popular names in the music industry like Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, The Fray, and last year’s Jason Derulo.

Loghan Abila was a part of the estimated 5,000 people that attended last year’s fall concert and appreciated the change in genre.

“The last couple of years it’s been country so I really enjoyed Jason,” said Abila. “It was fun.”

But some TCU students are happy to go country once again.

“I like country more, so I definitely think it’s a better choice,” said Christine Moreno, senior anthropology major.

Reddick said that the artist was chosen through a series of discussions among the SGA officers last year.

“We were looking for an artist who would appeal to a large number of students, put on an engaging show, fit in our budget, and was excited to come to TCU,” said Reddick. “I am looking forward to a night that will bring students together.”

Moreno said that she has already let her friends know that they will be in the crowd singing along with Hayes.

“I kind of freaked out whenever I saw it, cause I’m a huge, massive fan so I’m extremely excited for it,” said Moreno.
