A vehicle hit a female student Thursday on the intersection of Bowie Street and University Drive just before 9 a.m.

The woman was crossing the end of Bowie Street going north when the car, turning left from University Drive onto Bowie Street, struck her, TCU Police said. Sgt. Eric Abilez from the TCU Police Department said the driver could not see the pedestrians because of the glare from the sun.

Paramedics and members of the Fort Worth Police Department arrived at the scene around 9:10 a.m. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Junior Spencer Traver said he heard a loud crack and when he arrived at the intersection, found the student on the ground. He said the driver had pulled over to the side of the road.

Traver said he thought the woman’s leg was injured.

“She was really emotionally shaken up, and I would be, too,” Traver said.

The student told Traver she thought the driver saw her, but the car kept coming toward her and struck her.
