The Jayhawks outlasted the Frogs Saturday at the TCU Campus Recreation Center.

Women’s swimming and diving fell short in Saturday’s meet against Kansas at the TCU Campus Recreation Center, with the Jayhawks winning 178-119.

The Jayhawks finished first in all but two of the 14 races, and swept the two diving competitions.

TCU finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke, with Devin Newton posting a time of 1:04.58. Lindsay Shabet finished with a time of 1:05.43 to give the Frogs a 1-2 finish.

The Frogs also took home the top two spots in the 200 yard breaststroke. This time it was Shabet finishing first with a time of 2:19.53. Ashley Dyke came in second with a time of 2:22.12.

TCU head coach Richard Sybesma said his squad was outperformed by a very respectable opponent in the Jayhawks, who are ranked 48th nationally.

“Kansas has a really good team. We performed well, but we just came up short.” Sybesma said.

Sybesma added that he was still happy with the effort that his swimmers and divers gave in the meet.

“I’m very pleased with how we performed against one of the top teams in the conference,” Sybesma said. “Our girls dove well off the boards and swam hard in the pool. Again, we came up just short.”

The Frogs fall to 3-2 on the season with the loss. They will get back to action when they head to Ames, Iowa next weekend to compete in a meet against both Iowa State and South Dakota. The meet will take place on both Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7.
