College students seem to have a reliance on caffeine to get them through lectures and late night study sessions, but there are healthier alternatives to power through the day.

A non-traditional student balances family and education

She is a veteran, over the age of 25, a single mother of three and a full-time student. Senior strategic communication major Cristina Mungilla is just trying to balance it all.

Mungilla said it has been a struggle returning to school.

“I think I had it set in me that [school is] a life goal. It is something I started and haven’t finished,” Mungilla said.

Her advice for those wanting to return to school is to have and maintain a strong support system.
