The Horned Frog soccer team’s season came to an end at the Big 12 quarterfinals in Kansas City, Missouri Wednesday night, losing to rival Baylor University in penalty kicks after playing to yet another draw.

It was the fourth consecutive draw , the third consecutive 1-1 draw, and the second 1-1 draw against the Bears in the last two weeks the Frogs had played in after not finishing in a single draw all season before the four game streak began.

The teams each missed one of their five guaranteed penalty kicks, sending the contest to sudden death penalty kicks. The eighth round proved to be the difference maker, as the Bears converted right after the Frogs missed a shot, sending the Frogs home.

“We gave ourselves a chance to be successful, but unfortunately it didn’t go our way at the end,” TCU head coach Eric Bell said. “The effort is key to me as we move forward as a program; it’s something to build on. Hopefully this experience fuels us for the future.”

Meghan Murphy scored the lone goal of the game for the Frogs, which was not enough for the Frogs to get the job done in regulation.

“You take the step of now its ties, but now we need to make the step to where we get wins instead of ties,” Bell said. “It’s hard, but we have to get better this spring. We have some new blood coming in that will help make us better going forward. I think we will continue to be a force in this league and hopefully finish higher in the standings.”

The Frogs finished with an 8-7-4 record on the season. The team now enters a long off season as they being work for the 2016 campaign next fall.
