Ed Landreth was filled with the sounds of yuletide carols as six different choirs combined to put on “A TCU Choral Christmas” to a filled auditorium Monday night.

The concert started with a performance by the Keller Independent School District’s fifth and sixth grade Honor Choir, who sang “America of Thee I Sing” and “Don’t be a Jerk! It’s Christmas!”

The TCU Cantiamo Women’s Chorus performed next with songs such as “Deo Gracias,” “All Men Draw Near” and “The Sussex Carol.”

TCU’s Purple, White, and Blues mixed vocal Jazz ensemble provided Jazz renditions of favorites such as “Linus and Lucy” from The Peanuts, “We Three Kings” and “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”

The Frog Corps male ensemble performed “On Christmas Night” and “Jingle Bells”, while the University Singers and Concert Chorale mixed ensembles ended the show with performances of “Ave Maria,” “Fum, Fum, Fum,” “Christmas Day” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.”

As the different groups made their transition to and from the stage, the audience was able to participate in a multitude of sing-alongs, including “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “Silent Night.”

After the choir groups finished their performances, choir and audiences members joined together to sing a rousing rendition of “Joy to the World” to close out the night.

Alex Kilcoyne, a junior vocal education major, said she thought that the show was “one of the best Christmas concerts that we’ve put on.”

Kilcoyne, who sang with the University Singers and Concert Chorale ensembles, said that she is also excited for the performance opportunities the ensembles will have coming up in the spring.

Hunter Avant, a senior vocal music education major, also said the concert went well. “We did a little bit of contemporary, a little bit of classical, kind of mixed it in, and had multiple ensembles come together. It was just a really fun experience,” Avant said.
