TheEnd hosted a sold out show for singer Jesse McCartney on Friday night.

McCartney, 28, is an American singer, songwriter and actor whose first solo album, Beautiful Soul, sold over 1.8 million copies. The album kick-started his career and gained him an impressive fan base here at TCU.

“A lot of the fans that grew up listening to my music are now in college, so these shows are especially fun because it strikes a cord with the audience,” said in an interview with TCU 360. “It’s more of a nostalgic kind of vibe.”

McCartney also shared his outlook on his career and how he handled the transition between childhood stardom and where he is now.

“There are times where people choose a profession out of necessity and they just hate what they do; I love what I do and it’s one of the best parts of my job,” McCartney said. “I have a great group of friends and a great family who really kept me on the ground all these years.”

Looking forward in his career, McCartney talked about his goals for the next 5 to 10 years.

“One of my goals is to write and produce my own television show and perhaps direct it,” said McCartney.

McCartney also shared a little-known fact about himself: if he couldn’t be a performer, he would have liked to be a chef.

“I read a ton of cook books and I’m actually a pretty decent cook,” said McCartney. “After a long trip or tour I try to relax by cooking something in the kitchen.”
