Two Fort Worth police officers shot after investigating 911 call, shooter dead

Update: 12:44 a.m.: Both officers are in stable condition at the hospital, police said in a tweet.

Fort Worth police said a man is dead after shooting two police officers Friday night at around 8:30 p.m. at a home in the 8300 block of Wharton Drive.

According to police, the two officers were investigating a possible suicide at the home. They were told by someone in the house that a possible witness to the shooting went outside to the shed. Police said that once they went near the shed, the man inside started firing shots.

Police returned fire and killed the man inside. Both officers are being treated at the John Peter Smith hospital.
One officer is currently in critical condition after being shot in his upper extremities and torso, according to police. The other officer was hit in his chest but his bulletproof vest deflected the shot, police said.
The injuries appear to be not life-threatening, police said.
