A car crashed into the Put a Cork In It wine store on Park Hill Drive at about 5:40 p.m. Friday. The vehicle smashed through the front window and most of the vehicle entered the building.
Chris Keel, the store owner, said he was helping a customer inside when the car came through the window.
Keel said the car was parked in front of the store and the driver said she reached for her purse when she accidentally hit the accelerator and rammed into the building. He said he knows the driver and that she was “mortified” about the accident.
There were no injuries in the accident, Keel said.
“It’s just a freak accident,” he said. “It’s lucky no one got hurt.”
Keel said he doesn’t know how much the damage will cost him. At the end of the day, the wine store owner was in good spirits.
“I’m alive,” he said with a laugh.
The driver could not be reached for comment.
A similar incident occurred not long ago in the 109 when a car crashed into a house on the corner of McCart Avenue and McPherson Avenue. There is no evidence indicating that the two incidents are connected.
