TCU won its NCAA Championship first-round match-up against Wichita State on Friday night, 3-1. With the victory, director of volleyball Jill Kramer picked up her 100th career win.

TCU improves to 15-12 overall this season.

TCU’s offense was dominated by seniors on Friday night. Ashley Smith led the Frogs in kills for the fifth time this season; totaling her season best – 17. Natalie Gower and Ashleigh Martin also recorded 11 kills each. Jillian Bergeson recorded 31 digs, marking the first time in her career recording 30+ digs.

Overall, TCU finished the night strong, totaling 62 kills, seven service aces, 91 digs and eight total team blocks.

Kramer said it was a great match and she was proud of her team and the resiliency they showed.

“I am proud of our girls for problem-solving and sticking together and finding a way to get it done and not getting too ahead of themselves,” Kramer said. “They did a good job of playing point-for-point, not getting too up and down and they got it done, so I’m proud of them.”

This is the second time in program history that TCU has advanced to the second round at the tournament.

TCU will face No. 2 Nebraska on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Neb.
