The TCU Women’s Basketball team won their third straight game Wednesday, defeating the Hampton Pirates by 22, 90-68.

The Horned Frogs finished nonconference play with a 9-2 record, their best since the 2003 season.

Junior Amy Okonkwo led the team to its win over Hampton with a career-high 31 points in just 19 minutes. Okonkwo hit 11 of 14 shots from the field and also secured 7 rebounds.

Also scoring in double figures was sophomore Amber Ramirez and freshman Lauren Heard. Ramirez continued her hot shooting streak from beyond the arc with five three-pointers in the first quarter and finished the game with 18 points. Heard scored a season-high 15 points off of the bench.

The Horned Frogs never trailed in the game and stretched their lead to 28 towards the end of the game. Hampton cut the deficit to three at the end of the first quarter, but the Horned Frogs would go on an 11-3 run to take an 11-point lead and control the rest of the game.

The team out-rebounded the Pirates 42-20, tying their best margin of the season and highlighting the dominating fashion in which they won.

TCU will return to the court Dec. 28th at home against the undefeated West Virginia Mountaineers to open conference play.
