The TCU women’s basketball team won their second-straight game Wednesday night, defeating Texas Tech 72-60.

The win was TCU’s ninth Big 12 Conference win of the season, tying a team record.

TCU led 21-17 with 7:19 left in the second quarter and proceeded to hold Texas Tech scoreless for the rest of the half. The Horned Frogs scored 17 points during the Lady Raiders’ scoreless streak and entered the half with a 38-17 lead.

Texas Tech’s scoreless streak extended into the first 2:31 of the third quarter as TCU stretched the lead to a game-high 26.

Although the Lady Raiders outscored the Horned Frogs 26-15 in the fourth quarter, the team held on to win by 12.

“Road wins in the Big 12 aren’t easy,” head coach Raegan Pebley said. “I was really worried about this Texas Tech team. This is a very different team than the first time we saw them. They play harder and more focused and have been able to climb out of some deficits, so we knew that we had to prepare really hard.”

Junior Amy Okonkwo led the Frogs on offense with 19 points. She was the only player to score in double figures.

Defensively, the Horned Frogs held the Lady Raiders to 38.8 percent shooting from the field. This was the fourth time this season they have held a Big 12 opponent to under 40 percent shooting.

The team’s 18 regular season wins are their most since the 2010-2011 regular season and their most under Pebley.

TCU will play their final home contest Saturday against the No.3 Baylor. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. at Schollmaier Arena.
