Beach volleyball suffers ninth consecutive loss

TCU beach volleyball dropped a 3-2 decision against No. 16 Loyola Marymount, and a 4-1 loss to No. 8 Long Beach State Thursday in Long Beach, California.

The Horned Frogs, who currently sit at 3-10 in the 2018 season, were tied with the Lions at 2-2 heading into the final matchup between TCU’s Brooke Sassin and Jordan Westendorff and LMU’s Bozena Culo and Emma Doud. Sassin and Westendorff won the first set 21-11 but lost the match after falling in the next two sets 21-15, 15-11.

The two victories for TCU came from Jillian Bergeson and Jaelyn Greene, who defeated Savannah Slattery and McKayla Ferris 21-18, 21-12 and Jensyn Bledsoe and Molly Scheel who defeated LMU’s Veronica Nederend and Maddie Leiphardt 22-24, 21-14, 15-13.

In the matchup against the host 49ers, the combo of Cassie House and Haven Hill picked up the only win for TCU in the matchup with a 22-20, 21-16 decision over Sasha Karelov and Anete Brinke.

The Horned Frogs will end their four-match road trip Saturday when they battle against No. 6 Cal Poly for the second time this season at 11 a.m, and No. 10 Arizona at 1 p.m. at Pismo Beach in San Luis Obispo, California.
