Beach volleyball closes Surf N Turf Invitational with 1-4 record

TCU beach volleyball split a pair of 4-1 decisions during the final day of the FIU Surf N Turf Invitational Saturday in South Beach with a win over Tulane and falling to No. 18 Florida Atlantic.

In the matchup against No. 18 Florida Atlantic, the Horned Frogs’ only win came when the duo of Hannah Rogers and Avery Arellano defeated the Owls’ Nicole Navarro and Kaila Dorish 18-21, 21-14, 16-14.

Against Tulane for the second time this season, Arellano and Rogers defeated the Green Wave’s Rio Frohoff and Gabriella Becerra 26-24, 21-11, while the combo of Jordan Westendorff and Kristy Wieser defeated Tulane’s Ashley Delgado and Addison Hermstad 21-13, 21-19.

Jillian Bergeson and Jaelyn Greene were victorious over Tulane’s Lauren Orlich and Anna Chin 21-14, 21-13, and Jensyn Bledsoe and Molly Scheel defeated the Green Wave’s Lan Nguyen and Tarin Mergener 21-18, 21-19.

The Horned Frogs got their revenge against Tulane after falling to them March 3 during the Fight in the Fort.

The Frogs will play again this upcoming Saturday and Sunday in Tallahassee, Fla. where they will battle against Georgia State, Alabama-Birmingham, Florida State, Florida Atlantic and UNC-Wilmington.
