TCU beach volleyball won its first two matchups Friday with a 4-1 decision over No. 11 Georgia State and a 5-0 thumping over Alabama-Birmingham at the first day of the Seminole Beach Battle.

However, the Horned Frogs fell to No. 7 and host Florida State 5-0, ending a three-game winning streak.

In the matchup against Georgia State, TCU’s Hannah Rogers and Avery Arellano defeated the Panthers’ Kate Novack and Amie Held 21-15, 16-21, 15-12.

The combination of Jordan Westendorff and Brooke Sassin defeated GSU’s Eden Hawes and Ashley McGinn 21-18, 22-24, 15-11. The third point for the Frogs came after Cassie House and Haven Hill defeated Teegan Van Gunst and Annika Van Gunst 33-31, 21-9.

The Horned Frogs final victory against the Panthers came in the hands of Molly Scheel and Jensyn Bledsoe, who defeated Olivia Stasevick and Georgia Johnson 22-20, 21-11. This game served as revenge for TCU as they had previously lost to Georgia State in the Surf N Turf Invitational.

The Horned Frogs cruised to a victory over Alabama-Birmingham for the second time this season as Arellano and Rogers defeated Sallianne Napolitano and Gabbi Moreno 21-15, 21-19 for TCU’s first point of the matchup.

Westendorff and Sassin also were victorious, defeating UAB’s Tressa Buckland and Annie Pringle 18-21, 21-16, 15-13. The duo of Jillian Bergeson and Jaelyn Greene also won their matchup against Erin Bognar and Avei Logoleo 21-18, 21-16, and House and Hill won 17-21, 21-18, 15-12 over UAB’s Kenley Adams and Devon May.

The combo of Scheel and Bledsoe clinched the matchup for the Frogs as they defeated Haley Jared and Emily Martinez 21-14, 21-0.

The Horned Frog will finish the Seminole Beach Battle Saturday as they go up against No. 18 Florida Atlantic at 8:30 a.m. and UNC- Wilmington at 11:30 a.m.
