TCU soccer was shut out Thursday for the first time since their first game of the season, falling to Texas 1-0.

The game was also TCU’s first Big 12 loss of the season.

“Credit to Texas for figuring out a way to get the result,” head coach Eric Bell said. “I do think that in my heart of hearts, we were the better team, but at the end of the day it’s about scoring goals, and we didn’t do that.”

The teams were stuck in a scoreless tie throughout the first half as the Longhorns outshot the Frogs 7-4. TCU would outshoot Texas in the second half, but they only tallied three shots on target compared to the Longhorns’ seven.

“We weren’t precise enough in front of the goal with our crossing or finishing,” Bell said. “We didn’t do a good job of making the keeper have to make saves.”

The game’s lone goal came in the 87th minute by Cyera Hintzen.

For the shot total, 15 of TCU’s 18 were by the combined talents of Messiah Bright, Payton Crews, Gracie Brian and Grace Collins.

This left Yazmeen Ryan without a goal scored for the first time in four matches, dating back to mid-September.

The match was Yazmeen Ryan’s first game since Sept. 15 without a goal.

Despite not earning the shutout, TCU goalkeeper Emily Alvarado recorded six saves, three in each half.

TCU completes their road trip at noon this Sunday with a stop in Ames, Iowa, to face the Iowa State Cyclones.
